Paying Attention and Trying to Learn to Read Body Language

There you are at your first serious job interview in weeks. You really need to get this job, and you're quite anxious. The moment you sit down across from the interviewer though, you don't quite know what to do with your hands. You slick your hair back, you adjust your tie or you make sure that your glasses are on straight. You cross your arms and you uncross them. There's one thing right away that your interviewer is going to know – that you're nervous. That's not the kind of sign you're trying to get across, are you? The interviewer knows this because he probably has taken a few classes on how to read body language.

We all read body language from time to time. We see someone sometimes, and we trust them immediately. We don't even know why. But then of course, we learn a little while later that they just turned out to be the ax murderer from the massacre down at the shopping mall.

Basically, whether we're successful when we try to read body language or otherwise, we're always trying to look for a few cues that give someone away. A smile that seems slightly out of place, a choice of words that seems odd for the person, a circumstance that seems to not entirely belong there – we all know so well how normal behavior goes that with a bit of practice, we're always able to catch out anything that's not entirely right.

10 interview skills for reporters

Author: Rhoden at 20-11-2011, 23:56, Views: 76

1. Research topic
It is elementary but not everyone thought when preparing an interview! Some people are just leisurely putting hand in pocket, pointing the recorder to record interviewee and come back home to write news. It is best to understand the problem, first search the latest information as well as background information on that topic from the archives of paper documents, the library or contact other sources.

2. Make available a list of questions
Determine what you want to know from people interviewed and pre-arrange the question asked logically to avoid being messy, haphazard. Intelligent people always have available questions but it is best to just write out the questions in a brief and specific. If you want to carry a document that the interviewees considered, make sure to include a list of related questions. If you want the interviewee to answer or comment on something that is written in a different document, remember to bring a copy or write accurately about it in your journal.
