We all need to understand something about the contact lenses Halloween costumes go with. They are still regular soft contact lenses that are considered medical devices. And the fact that there's a smiley face where the iris is doesn't do anything to alter that fact.

The special contact lenses Halloween revelers wear are no different from the regular lenses everyone else wears – or the special lenses that the Na'vi characters in Avatar wear. And you can wear them too.

The crazy special effects on Halloween contact lenses you see everywhere around the season, it may surprise you to find out, are available both for vision correction and for simple cosmetic purposes. And it's the same companies that make them usually, as make the corrective lenses that everyone wears. Companies like CIBA Vision and Marietta Vision make these.

Do Something about that Holiday Weight Gain

Author: mbc at 6-03-2012, 08:00, Views: 23

With all the gifts and the celebrations you have to pay for, the holidays are terrible for your bottom line. They can also be really bad for your bottom. How else are you supposed to look at all the feasting, the unmitigated drinking, the sweets, the cake and all the candy? In absolute terms, the 2 to 3 pounds that the average American gains in the holidays aren't that big a deal. What makes them a big deal is that they happen to be difficult pounds to lose. And they make for “holiday weight gain creep” over the years. 10 years from now, you'll have 30 pounds to lose that won't be easy.

Certainly, no one's asking you to give up on all the wonderful desserts, beverages and festivities that the holidays involve. You can celebrate through food, of course. But for the sake of keeping your holiday weight gain to a minimum, you need to do that in moderation.

Okay, say you're quite down with the moderation idea. How do you keep count of the glasses of eggnog and not go over the line?

Well, you could possibly start a holiday journal for what you eat. If you could write down every bit of special stuff that you allow yourself over the holidays, that should go into your journal. That will make it easy for you to decide on how much exercise you need.

Buying Mad Hatter Contact Lenses for your Alice in Wonderland Look this Halloween

Author: Rhoden at 12-01-2012, 11:57, Views: 28

Last year's hit, the 3D movie Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton, really made a huge impact on what Halloween costumes were sold that year. The Mad Hatter character from Alice was one of the best hits among last year's Halloween costume sales. Perhaps you haven't really paid close attention; but a good part of the look of the Mad Hatter came from the way his eyes looked. Johnny Depp, who did the Mad Hatter in that movie was all dressed up with the red hair, the crazy hat, and so on. But there's a lot to be said for those unbelievable green contacts. They've since come to be known as Mad Hatter contact lenses.

If you're interested in the Hatter look this year, you probably need to start with the contact lenses. Get them, and the rest of the look is easy to even rustle up at home.

Colored special-effect contacts for your Halloween costume can virtually guarantee you a good bit of attention on the day. Even today, as much trouble as people take to put out a great Halloween look with expensive costumes and so forth, they often stop short of going and getting lenses. To begin with, it's illegal to go get lenses without a prescription – even if it's for Halloween purposes. And then, it's difficult to have contact lenses fit in your eyes without discomfort if you haven't much practice.
