Some Unknown Single Parenting Issues

Author: Rhoden at 9-05-2012, 03:11, Views: 33

Everyone has an idea how hard single parenting can be. Parents in committed relationships can have a hard time with children, but they always have someone to lean on. A single parent does not always have that option and they often find parenting more stressful and challenging than those that have a spouse at home with them. If you are married, enjoy the help that you have and remember that there is always a chance you could find yourself a single parent some day too. Think about some of the single parenting issues your friends and family members may be going through and help them when you can.

One thing that most parents get is a break when their spouse comes home. Children eventually go to bed, but that does not mean that a single parent has time to themselves. One of the biggest single parenting issues that parents of younger children have is having a few quiet moments of sanity to do something that they enjoy without the company of their children. This does not mean they do not love their children. All parents have to have those quiet moments. If you know a single parent, offer to babysit once in a while and insist they go do something for themselves other than chores or errands.

It’s Easier Than Ever Before To Find A Sitter These Days

Author: Rhoden at 8-05-2012, 07:17, Views: 23

While I didn't actually put myself through college sitting for families in the neighborhood, the money I made did help. I started out with a single family, did a good enough job that all of the family's friends called me up to sit their children too. These days, as a mother, basically, I'm on the other side. I try to find a sitter all the time who is as good a child as I used to be.

In the 70s and before that, no one used to have any trouble at all finding a kid to sit their child. Young people used to be a lot quieter and better-behaved back then. These days, you can't be so sure. Still, if you look at enough possible applicants, you still can find a sitter who is interested in doing a good job.

I got my best baby sitting gigs from referrals. Unless you friends want to keep a great find they have to themselves, there's no reason why shouldn't expect your friends to give you a name or two.

What you Never Knew About Child Care Providers

Author: mbc at 7-05-2012, 10:05, Views: 15

When you leave your child at a day care center, even if you've done your homework and the place comes with the best reviews ever, you really have to admit that you always leave the place with a sense of apprehension. Can you really be sure of what goes on in their? Well, the state of Georgia felt the same way. They commissioned a study to try and see what exactly goes on in these places. What they found was hardly what you would call comforting news. Child care providers in the state provide substandard care, they found.

Now that your worst suspicions have been confirmed, what can you do? You do need child care providers. You can't live without them unless you to give your job up and starve. And you don't feel you're doing the right thing just leaving your child in these places. The Georgia study found that care providers in these places use inappropriate language to control the children their charged with. They found unhygienic practices, safety hazards and not enough toys for the age.

One reason why there is so little good care in these places is that child psychologists haven't really paid much attention so far to the kind of education that is appropriate for children who are under kindergarten age. So, child care providers haven't really been taught to pay much attention to making things educational for very young children.

Parenting Tips for Toddlers

Author: mbc at 7-05-2012, 10:01, Views: 9

Much attention is paid to parents when they are expecting and when they have a young baby. This is great as many people in this time of life are unsure and need all the extra support they can get. The problem can be when the baby turns one or two and suddenly the parent has a very active child on their hands and they are all on their own. Do not fret, no matter how frazzled you feel, you are not alone. You can find plenty of parenting tips for toddlers and before you are done, you may come up with some of your own. Write them down and save them. You may forget before the next one turns two.

One of the most important parenting tips for toddlers is to take a deep breath and learn to be very patient. Your toddler is going to do things and say things that are going to baffle you and you may find that you are very short on patience. You have to take a deep breath and remember that unless someone is hurt or the house is on fire, everything is going to be okay. In fact, if you can find a way to laugh when they empty out your filing cabinet while you are making dinner, you will fare all the better and so will your toddler. Laugh when they cannot see you or it will encourage them to do it again, but make sure you do laugh.

Electric Breast Pumps

Author: mbc at 5-05-2012, 09:19, Views: 8

Some mothers can stay home with their babies and they never have to give a thought to anything other than breastfeeding their babies. However, many moms have to go back to work to support their family or some simply wish to because their career is important to them. Moms cannot always be with their babies twenty four hours a day no matter what arrangements they have, and this is when those that know that breast milk is best look for the best in electric breast pumps. These can be a woman's best friend and can also quiet literally be life savers if you give birth to a preemie.

Electric breast pumps are easier on moms because they do not have to do the pumping on their own. Those that feel they are only going to pump once in a great while can use a cheap, hand-powered model, but if you are going back to work, you want to get a double electric pump. You are going to have to use your hands to hold the pumps up to your breasts in most models (but not all) but you are not going to have to do the pumping on your own. Electric models are far better at emptying the breast, though nothing can do that like a baby.

Co Parenting Classes

Author: mbc at 28-04-2012, 03:10, Views: 41

If you are going through a divorce or separation with the mother or father of your child, you may be able to work things out to your satisfaction without going to court. If you can do that, all the better for not only you but your child or children as well. Some couples do not have to go to court, but they may have to go through mediation to agree on visitation and custody, as well as things like child support. If you are having trouble agreeing and getting along, you may have to take co parenting classes. Before you groan, understand that these are for the benefit of your child, which is a very good thing indeed.

One thing that some parents do is put their children in the middle of their problems with the other parent. Some do not realize that they are doing this but some are very aware of this. The first thing you are going to learn in co parenting classes is that this is going to harm your child and your relationship with your child for the rest of your life. Even if your kids are not old enough to understand why you lied or why you asked them to lie, they will remember and figure it out eventually. If you used a lie to alienate them from a good, loving parent, you are the one that is going to lose out in the end. They will resent you for taking that away from them.

Child Care Tips

Author: mbc at 26-04-2012, 08:11, Views: 23

You may know how to take care of your children, or you may know what to do when you are taking care of kids for friends or even at work. Parenting is hard and even caring for children that are not your own for a short time can be a little overwhelming. Children are like sponges, therefore they learn a lot not only from what you say but from what you do. Our personalities are with us when we are born, but there is a lot that shapes and cements that personality before we are out on our own. There are some child care tips you may not have thought of that can help you no matter how extended or limited your time with the children you know may be.

One thing is that you should always keep your cool. This is very hard when you see a child about to throw your glass vase to the floor or when they have emptied a bottle of ketchup onto your newly cleaned kitchen floor. It is okay to be in a hurry or say that something may be dangerous – but you should never make the child feel guilty for something that they do not yet understand. Instead, do your best to explain why they cannot do what they just did or almost did, so that they learn by experience rather than becoming scared of their own shadow.

Making Sure That You Don't Drown in Overwhelming Baby Costs

Author: mbc at 23-04-2012, 10:34, Views: 20

Many people are often surprised by how quickly their baby costs can add up. Even people who are financially well-established often wonder about how one tiny little baby can financially challenge two well-settled adults who own the house, cars and who have paid off all their student loans. And these demands on your finances can only grow as your child grows. There'll be more food, more expensive clothes, education and so much more to pay for.

To new parents who are really anxious to save on baby costs that seem to threaten to overwhelm them, a number of ways exist by which you can plan these things so that you can come out on top.

For instance, setting aside for a minute how much your baby can gain with this health when you breastfeed him, consider how much you can personally gain financially when you breastfeed. Search online for formula feeding cost estimates, and you'll find that you'll need to spend about $2500 in the first year. In the first 3 months alone, you're likely have to spend $800 just on the milk in the bottles and stuff.

Worried about how Indulging your Children will make for Spoiled Kids?

Author: mbc at 23-04-2012, 09:39, Views: 17

We all want our kids tobe happy. And a great way that parents have of bringing that effect about is often to buy their kids whatever they ask for. It used to be that you only had to worry about this over the holidays and birthdays. These days though, it's more or less like the holiday season the whole year around. We have a serious situation would spoiled kids who can't be happy and grateful about anything.

That's the problem with trying to buy happiness for your children. You send them on a never-ending slippery slope of expecting stuff to maintain their level of happiness. The end result is a child who is spoiled, ungrateful and quite insufferable.

Are you one of those parents who are caught up in a “more stuff equals more happiness”child raising policy of your own making? Well, amazingly, three out of four parents in America admit to doing this, especially over the holidays. Many of them will even wait in line at the Toys 'R' Us store at two in the morning to get some hot ticket toy for their child.

Taking your Baby Shopping List to a Baby Clothes Sale

Author: mbc at 12-04-2012, 08:33, Views: 13

Tiny little dresses, bodysuits, shoes and pants – you'd think things this tiny would be cheaper, but they aren't. Before you buy a few sets for your baby, you'll find that you're pretty much topping your budget out. What is worse even, these clothes may well fit your child for a couple of months before she outgrows them. So, what do you do? You head for a baby clothes sale, of course. The question of course is, where?

The fact that we all have smartphones these days has practically started off a revolution in shopping. We have something called shopping apps now – names like ShopSavvy and RedLaser that get on the Internet, scan the barcode tags on any item you want, and they tell you where on earth there is another identical piece that's cheaper. If you don't just want regular low prices, how about scanning the article in question into CouponSherpa? That little app will give you information about where you can find coupons.

Want to save in two ways on the same dress? How about buying used? That's right, you can go to a second hand baby clothes sale and buy there just like that. You see, there are new millions of other parents out there who have been in the same situation that you are now. They buy clothes for their little ones (plenty of them) and then discover that hey, babies go grow fast. So what you get in these places has been perhaps been worn a couple of times, if that.

Learning how to Discipline a Child

Author: Rhoden at 5-04-2012, 03:30, Views: 10

It can be really hard trying to figure out how to discipline a child who’s really young. For instance, if your one-year-old girl keeps heading for the cooking range in the kitchen to try to climb up to see what's on it, how do you stop her? What do you do when your three-year-old develops the nasty habit of rolling on the floor and throwing a perfect tantrum when she doesn't get her way? How on earth do you get a little child to get your point?

The rules of how to discipline a child do change from one age group to the next. For instance, children under two years are just naturally very curious. If a toddler keeps heading for the stove in the kitchen no matter how many times you tell her, you have to realize that to a child, fire can be really fascinating. She wants to climb atop and see it. While you can't of course put the stove out of reach, you certainly can do something like that for lots of other things.

Sometimes, discipline is the only thing that will work. Discipline doesn't have to mean anything more than a show of disapproval, if it’s a very young child. If your baby is heading towards trouble completely determined to do something, putting her on timeout is often an admirable idea. Just say to her that she needs to go to her room and think about what she did. Remember, toddlers don't really understand why what they did was wrong. If you put them on time out for longer than 5 minutes, they're going to lose touch with what it was that they did that they're sitting in there for.

What to Look for when you Buy a Baby Backpack

Author: Rhoden at 5-04-2012, 03:15, Views: 5

No, a baby wouldn't have anything to carry in a backpack. You, on the other hand, when you leave home, do have a baby to carry – in a cute little baby backpack, close your body, away from harm.

Just imagine what it must feel like for a baby travel high up on your back, her head close to yours looking over your shoulder at everything that's going on? It's one of the most exciting ways to go around for an infant. And as for you, carrying your baby around this way frees you up from any muscle pain from holding your baby in your arms all day and you certainly don't have to drag a bulky stroller around. A baby backpack is the best way to go as a way to carry a baby around.

The baby backpack is built out a metal frame that's padded and completely covered in fabric – not like you would see in a rucksack. If they made it completely out of fabric, it would stretch and strain around your baby with each step you took and it wouldn't be comfortable for your baby at all. A metal-framed one on the other hand, would be like a little throne for your baby – and completely protect her.
