Heartburn During Pregnancy

Author: mbc at 5-05-2012, 10:20, Views: 26

One of the lovely things that you can look forward to while you are pregnant is heartburn. Though not all women have a problem with this, a majority of them do. Heartburn during pregnancy may not seem like a huge deal if you have it just once in a while, but constant heartburn can be problematic to the mom to be. Think about how often and how severe your bouts of acid reflux are and then mention it to your OB-GYN during your next checkup. There are things you can do to cut down on how much you have and how much damage will be done in the long run.

Heartburn during pregnancy in the early months could just be what you are eating. If you are very hungry, as some women are, you may just be eating too much at one sitting or you could be craving something that aggravates acid reflux. Think about what you are eating and try to space out your meals, even if you are starving. Eat smaller amounts every few hours rather than three big meals a day and you should get some relief from heartburn during pregnancy in the early months.

How A Blood Test For Pregnancy Works

Author: Rhoden at 4-05-2012, 02:01, Views: 23

If you are not sure why you are going for a blood test for pregnancy when you have all of the symptoms and a positive pregnancy test, you should learn a little about what you can learn from drawn blood as apposed to a urine sample. While false positive pregnancy tests are rare, there are some times when they can happen. Also, a blood test can tell your doctor so much more than your urine test could ever tell you. In many cases, if a problem is suspected, you will have two blood tests to see what is going on.

A blood test for pregnancy and a urine strip both read the same thing, but they do so in a different way. The HCG in your system is what is going to produce a positive for both tests. HCG is only produced in the body when a woman is expecting a baby. There are some medications that can give a false positive, so if you are one one of these, you will have two tests to make sure. Also, if you are already confirmed pregnant and you start to bleed, you may also take two to get what is called a HCG count.

20 Weeks Pregnant

Author: Rhoden at 3-05-2012, 16:58, Views: 3

When you reach 20 weeks pregnant, you may sigh in relief. This is the point where you no longer have to worry about a miscarriage, though that does not mean your baby is totally safe. Many women celebrate this time because not only are they half way through their pregnancy, they feel better about the viability, and they also are probably feeling better than they have in a long time. There is plenty to do when you are this far along, so kick back and enjoy, but also keep in mind that your new baby is going to be there before you know it.

If you are one of the ones enjoying a sigh of relief, there is good reason to do so. Though your baby probably would not make it if born at 20 weeks pregnant, your chances of miscarriage fall substantially. Some babies born as young as 23 or 24 weeks can survive, but they can have life long problems. The good news is that if you have had a great pregnancy thus far, the chances of this early birth are low. Do not allow that to let you get too comfortable though. Make sure you keep your appointments and keep taking care of yourself and your baby. You still have half of the race yet to run.

Can You Get Pregnant During Your Period?

Author: mbc at 28-04-2012, 03:09, Views: 75

There is a lot of confusion out there today about not only how to get pregnant but when you can get pregnant. Heath classes in schools can help with these things, but some do not offer them and some only have a limited amount of information. Mothers, aunts, or grandmothers can be a source for information, but they may not know very much about it either. All they know is that they had intercourse and became pregnant. The female body should not be a mystery but stubbornly remains so with many. Questions about can you get pregnant during your period are say to answer, but that does not mean that most know the answer.

Can you get pregnant during your period? Sure you can, but it is not in the way that you think. You have to understand first the difference between a true period and what is called break-through bleeding. A true period is the shedding of the lining and the release of an unfertilized egg. Technically, you should not get pregnant then. If you have break-through bleeding, which is when you have not ovulated but you begin to bleed anyway, you could very easily get pregnant because you are not having a true period.

Female Infertility Causes

Author: mbc at 27-04-2012, 20:30, Views: 27

If you are trying to have a baby and you keep getting negative tests each month along with the heartbreaking occurrence of your period, there may be nothing wrong with you. However, if this keeps going on and you are trying to get pregnant, you may have to think about some female infertility causes that could be hindering your journey. As a rule, a woman under 30 who does not get pregnant within a year should see a doctor for testing, and a woman older than that should go after six months with no results. There are many things a doctor can test for and then offer solutions for so that you can then go ahead and have that baby of which you dream.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is one of the most common female infertility causes out there. The good news about this is that most women with this can end up with children as long as they are diagnosed and then as long as they follow their doctors advice. This is often characterized by easy weight gain, facial hair, longer, heavier periods, and at times, painful cysts that form on the ovary. There are many things a woman with PCOS can do to have a baby. If you think this fits you, see your OB-GYN for a referral to an infertility specialist for help.

Some women have a condition called endometriosis and have no idea that they do. This condition can be hard to stop for some ladies, but in others they know early on that there is something not quite right going on with their reproductive system. This is another of the female infertility causes that does allow for most women to have children.

Secondary Infertility

Author: mbc at 27-04-2012, 19:27, Views: 25

If you get pregnant and gave birth to your first child quite easily, you can easily assume that you are going to have an easy time with the second and even third child, if you wish to have them. What may come as a shock to some women is that they have developed secondary infertility. This is when you have had one child but then you cannot conceive again. Some would think this is not as crushing as primary infertility, but it can be quite devastating to go through. Some of the reasons for this are the same reasons for primary infertility as well.

Secondary infertility takes a while to diagnose. This is because a woman is usually a little bit older when trying to have a second child, so she assumes that it may take a little longer to have the second. By the time a year has gone by, a couple may suddenly realize that they are not getting pregnant as they assumed that they would. Some wait even longer before they decide that they need medical help because the first child is such a handful they do not have time thinking about the fact that their second may not be nearly as easy as the first one was.

The Financial Benefits of Breastfeeding

Author: mbc at 23-04-2012, 10:30, Views: 7

When you take your baby in for his first-year check-up, the pediatrician will talk to you about everything from what vaccinations to give your child to all the new foods your child should start to eat. Of course, this kind of information is easily available in any baby book. What your doctor can tell you that the baby books usually don't though is that you aren't supposed to stop breast-feeding your child regularly once the first year is up. The health benefits of breast-feeding past the first year can be that important.

Yes, we all know about this. The health benefits of breast-feeding are clear to all – the increase in intelligence, the protection against obesity, the improved social bonding and all that. Mothers-to-be often realize though how great breast-feeding can be for the family finances.

Formula, to begin with, is expensive. For a baby that you feed on formula, it can can cost up to $2000 a year in the first year alone. And that's not even including the cost of the bottles and the accessories. Of course, in some cases, breast-feeding requires bottles, too – when you pump milk. When you feed a baby formula, there's no doing it without the bottles. Count on spending a couple of hundred dollars a year on bottles.

Coping With Infertility

Author: mbc at 19-04-2012, 09:31, Views: 4

If you have always wanted children, the news that you are infertile can be a huge blow to your life. Coping with infertility is a different journey for each person, but know that the label of being infertile is a bit deceiving. There are very few people with this label that actually cannot ever have children. This often means that you are challenged in your quest, but it does not mean your miracle will not happen. No matter what your real situation may be, learning to cope will help you deal with something that can be about as heartbreaking as losing someone close to you.

Coping with infertility for a woman is tough. She may feel that she has failed at the one thing that she should be able to do and that others seem to do so easily. Seeing pregnant teenagers and families that always seem to have surprise pregnancies can be super tough. One of the first and hardest things that you must do if you this is you is to understand that their success is not your failure. You did not do anything wrong. It is unfair that you want a baby so badly when so many have them and neglect and even abuse them, but you cannot let this become personal to you.

Men also can have a hard time coping with infertility. It could be that they are the issue or it could be that their wife cannot have a baby or that nothing is working. Women often worry a man that wants kids will leave her for someone who does not have fertility issues. This effects the man though he may not even realize this is her worry.

What is Hypnobirthing, and how does it Help You?

Author: Rhoden at 2-04-2012, 21:38, Views: 6

If there is one thing on earth that can take away from the joy a mother feels being driven to the hospital to give birth, it has to be fear to do with how much the whole thing has to hurt. Mothers who have been introduced to hypnobirthing on the other hand know that there's a way to go through it with nothing to mitigate the joy. As more and more expecting mothers ask about what is hypnobirthing these days, they learn about how the process helps them give birth with less pain, a shorter period of labor and less chance of there being any need for a cesarean section. The recovery process, is said to be far shorter as well.

So okay, let's get to it right away. What is hypnobirthing exactly, and how does it achieve the results attributed to it?

It isn't as scary as thing as it might sound like. A woman who practices hypnobirthing merely uses the training she's received in self-hypnosis to aid in the natural birthing process. She induces herself to enter a state of deep inner relaxation so that she can let the process take over on its own without mentally interfering with it.

In the Home Birth vs Hospital Birth Debate, Both Sides Have Qualities to Recommend Them

Author: mbc at 30-01-2012, 07:24, Views: 34

When parents see their children all eager to hear time and again the story of how they were born, you can't help but think of how they used to be all eager for the story themselves. It must be a human thing – to know the magical story. Well, think about it – is there really that much of a story to tell when it's a hospital birth? To begin with, they just put you under a lot of the time. And even if they don't, since the whole birthing process is left to the professionals, there's little detail actually, to provide. Basically, in the home birth vs hospital birth comparison, the home birth has to win out for just sheer storytelling potential.

But in these days of personal financial stress all around, the cost savings has to be a huge deal in the home birth vs hospital birth shoot out. Basically, you do have to admit that for all convenience that hospital birthing affords you, it's hard to afford that when the bill routinely gets to be $15,000. Even when you have a very understanding healthcare insurance provider.
