I live in the state of Texas where summers can, at times, be almost unbearably hot! Many of us have central air conditioning, which is quite nice when you have been outdoors for a while, but I always keep at least one window unit air conditioner on hand, and for good reason.

One of the greatest feelings in the world is to walk into a cool house when it is about 108 degrees outside with no breeze. When in a house that has central heat and air that is working, that is ideal. The fact of the matter is that central heat and air pretty much stays constant throughout the day. I know that I have my thermostat set to 70 degrees, and I can almost always count on the temperature being 70 to 72 degrees at any point in the day … almost.

On one occasion, my central air conditioning unit went out entirely. It was a nightmare scenario, because it happened right during the heat of the summer. Fortunately, I had a window unit air conditioner, so I was able to plug it in and set it up in our living room. For the few days while our central unit was being fixed, we were pretty much confined to the living room, but at least we were cool and were able to sleep comfortably.

It is no secret that air conditioners are more of a necessity than a luxury as they make our homes and workplaces more habitable. While that is the prevailing situation, there are still many people who are not able to afford air conditioners at their current retailing prices and for these people there comes some relief on the form of cheap air conditioners. These conditioners come in different forms and this means that everybody can get the ones they want. The available ones include unit, ductless and split systems.

One of the best things about these air conditioners is that they are usually quite efficient as they only direct cool air when it is needed. Just as with portable systems, in these systems the air is fully used as well. Another benefit of using these air conditioners is their zone cooling. This is very important as different people have different desires of coldness and with these systems it therefore becomes possible for the user to have different temperatures for different rooms.
